For the Morning Ceremony Event:
- From the traffic light intersection, proceed to the main (center) entrance to the stadium at the roadside of 16th street, and keep social distancing according to the 6 foot separated lines on the sidewalk.
- As you enter the stadium you will receive a Ziplock bag containing your VBHS mask, a pencil, your name/photo card for roll call, and this direction sheet, inside.
- You must be wearing your cap and gown as well as your own mask or the VBHS mask provided to you to keep, and you must remain in a seat spot marked with an X in the stadium seats for the duration of the formal program until the roll call at the end.The only time the mask is allowed to be taken off is if you choose to remove it when you cross the stage for the pictures taken there by the professional photographer, and you may wear it then also, if you wish.
- Please stand when asked as the “pomp and circumstance” music is playing in the beginning of the program.Remain standing as our JROTC presents the colors, and our chorus sings the National Anthem and or chorus and orchestra ensemble play and sing our Alma Mater.
- While in the stands, fill out your name and photo card (both sides) by neatly printing your full name as you wish to have it read when you cross the stage, on the front side (Phonetic Spelling means how it sounds) and the back side for the professional photographer.
- In order to cross the stage for the roll call, which happens after speeches and recognitions are complete and Mr. O’Keefe will then say “Now, without further ado, I present to you the roll call…”, you will be asked by teachers in the stands to proceed down and out the ramp exits of the bleachers underneath and west towards the scoreboard and through the track gate to the stage entrance.Follow the social distance lines on the marked on the ground and stay separated by the marks. Have your name card in your hand at this point, and leave the stands in the following order; section F first, then section E, then D, then C, then B, then A.Don’t be in a hurry, because crossing the stage early only means you are then waiting in the stands afterwards for everyone to return to a seat, so you can be certified all together at the end after all graduates have gone through the roll call and have returned to their seats.
- Graduates present your card to the name reader at the stage entrance ramp.
- When your name is called, cross the stage and receive your ceremonial diploma from Principal O’Keefe.
- Professional photographers will be taking your picture crossing the stage and again at the off ramp of the stage.
- After your picture is taken off the ramp, return your ceremonial diploma cover to Ms. Watson (your real diploma can be picked up any weekday between 8-2 in the front office). Your real diploma will come with a diploma cover.
- When you exit the stage, turn left and enter the underneath of the bleachers at the far east end (under where the band sits at games)return to the same ramp you entered earlier and a stadium bleacher seat, so that you may be certified as graduates, after all names have been called and everyone is seated again.
- Certification in the end is the turning of the tassel part, and you will then be pronounced as a graduate.
